Whats Art?

I’ve mentioned on this blog before the topic of street art, and how my opinion of it differs from that of my Dads. Dad believes that any graffiti is bad, because its breaking the law, and how it makes a neighborhood look. I maintain that not all street art is bad, and that even in the case where it is breaking the law it Is still art. I’m not saying that its right, but its still art. And in some cases it can be beautiful, or inspiring. Most of the time it makes me think about what I’m looking at. And today I found out that in the states a museum is hosting the first ever exhibit of street art. “Today, we witnessed history being made. As the very first major U.S. museum exhibition of graffiti and street art, MOCA presented the media preview of Art in the Streets , an epic visual feast you must experience for yourself! International Pillow Fight Day 2011

This post is about two weeks late, but in all fairness, its been a very busy two weeks. Nonetheless, I present to you… INTERNATIONAL PILLOW FIGHT DAY 2011!!!!!!!!! It was a very close thing let me tell you! Earlier in the day Mom and Dad had gone out to the market, so I stayed home to hang out with Granddad. Dan joined us for a game of scrabble (I won) and after seeing the super brandy burgers my Dad started preparing when they got home, he ended up staying for dinner. Insert inner dilemma. You’re boyfriend spends the day with you and your recovering Grandfather, and stays for dinner. Time flies by and soon its 7PM. The pillow fight is at 8. Coffee is shared and Dan accepts a cup. 7:15 passes. Funny stories are being traded by Dan and my mom while my dad disappears upstairs. Around 7:35 Dan stands up and starts to move towards the front hall. I thank him for the wonderful afternoon and say goodnight. When he asks when I’m leaving for the pillow fight I reply “In about two seconds…”

Yesterday at work, we had a bit of a scare. My computer died, at least temporarily, but it was enough for us to realize that we’ve got a lot of files we really need that we’ve never backed up. Thus, my primary job today is going through all of the files (some from 2006) and figure out which ones we need to backup. Now let me tell you, that’s about as fun as it sounds. But luckily, sometimes when you’re digging, you come across buried treasure. Or in this case, pictures I’d thought I’d deleted. Last year, my friend aparna went on a trip to England by herself, and kept us updated as she went through emails. About halfway through she told us how her camera had either been lost or stolen. To me, I’d rather have my money stolen. The loss of a camera and the pictures it holds would leave me inconsolable. So my friends and I went over the list of places we knew she was visiting (it wasn’t that hard, she’d only been talking about this trip for a year at every given opportunity….) and the fol
