Quote of the Week

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. Dr. Seuss

Day 30: Before and After

Image
Featuring my Dad's Canon AE1 that I learned photography on, and my amazing Canon Rebel XT Digital SLR EDIT: Due to several people's comments, I feel the need to state that this photo is one shot, not two edited together. The only photoshopping I did was to select the image in the mirror and turn it black and white.

Feel the Burn

Image
This story actually starts a while ago, when my friend invited us to see a show at Casa Loma. We all met up downtown and ate at an amazing italian restaurant and then walked up the street to see the show. We ended up walking up the stairs to get there rather than walk all the way around. I remember pointing out that a scene from 'Scott Pilgram VS the World' was shot there, and that one of the bad guys died because he tried to skateboard down the stairs and the g-forces he built up as he flew down caused him to explode.  We then climbed the stairs.  Half way up I'm gasping out "No wonder he died…"  I am 28 years old, I should not be having a heart attack walking up a set of stairs. This was something of a huge wake up call for me. I never realized how completely out of shape I am! So, after thinking about it, and working out how I can fit it into my already insanely busy schedule, I've joined a gym! Now this isn't the first gym I&

The Best Christmas Movie

Image
Everyone has their favourite Holiday movie. For a lot of people it's one of the classics like A Christmas Carol or Miracle on 34th St, for others it is more recent pictures like Love Actually or Elf. Our family for example always has to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Every. Single. Year.  I love it, I love sitting there in the family room, everyone splayed out in different seats and laughing thirty seconds before the joke actually happens. Or whispering squirrel  to the dog just before Clark finds one in the tree. Or how everyone looks at me Every Time that damn dog yacks up a bone under the table to see if I'm gagging (I usually am). It's a great family tradition, one that I wouldn't change ever, but National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is not my favourite Christmas video.  That title goes directly to The Muppets Family Christmas.  Made in 1987, this movie has everything I love. Classic Muppet humour, crossovers and more broken fourt

I will never see it the same way again

Quote of the week

Never Compare Your Beginning to Someone Else’s Middle From the Blog Article http://www.lifewithoutpants.com/someone-elses-middle/ I love this quote so damn much you have no idea. It is such a bad habit of mine to look at where someone else is in their life and say "I should be there by now!" But as this article explains, you can't keep judging your life against others or you'll drive yourself insane! There will always be someone else with more money, a better job, more awards, more obviously talented... and when you see those people you can't just say that "Well I'll never be as good as them so I might as well give up now." If you do, you'll never accomplish anything ever!

Friday Gems

Image
One thing I really look forward to every friday is that a lot of my favourite blogs always post a couple links to things they have come across during the week that they wanted to share. Well I've decided to follow in their footsteps and I will try to continue to do so on a weekly basis. Enjoy! 1) I really need to make  these  homemade chocolate cups made with balloons! 2) Everyone needs one of each of these holiday/doomsday survival kits by trigger design 3) I am doing this tonight! 4) I think I'm going to have to try these next time I'm up at the cottage 5) Such an amazing  love story in 22 photos 6) This isn't news, but I need to share this absolutely amazing  packaging design 7) Such a fun and easy craft ! 8) Finally, a practical use for Doilies ! 9) Oh my god, I need every single one of these bookshelves !

Day 13: From a distance

Image
The prompt for this photo has two meanings for me; not only is it a photo of Josh and myself 'From a Distance', it is also a photo  of the church we will be getting married in next fall! Which right now feels like very far away as well. *Side note, this is also the church in which my parents were married in!

Day 12: Close up
