Vancouver Day Four

Today was our last day in Vancouver, and we decided not to drive into the city, but to take the sea bus instead. The sea bus leaves from north Vancouver and cuts right across the inlet to Gastown. We walked to the Art Gallery and had a great time in their surrealist exhibit. There were a lot of interactive pieces! Unfortunately we couldn’t take our cameras in so there are no pictures of that at all.

We walked Robson St. after that be

cause we had been told that was the place to shop, but it was mostly stores we had in Toronto. We did find a cream puff store, and ordered one each.

We stopped by the Library where a group of people were doing squats. When we left they were up to 430. My thighs hurt just watching them! The library was very cool though…

We walked down to Gas Town again so we could finish off where we left off. Marni found a really cool compass in an Antique shop and I found my art piece in he form of a photograph by a local artist. Marni also bought a hand made Hyida Cuff also by a local artist. We then walked along the waterfront to find the Olympic torch which lit up just as we were approaching. There was a crowd gathered to watch the third game and we might have been caught on a CityTV camera.

We took the Seabus back which is located in a market so instead of going out for dinner again we got a delicious garlic and chive twisted bread, some greens, some mixed fruit, and cookies. We drove back to the hotel and set up our food, turned on the tv and watched the came while munching on our tasty food.

Our window was open though and its still a beautiful day out so after we ate we went and sat with our feet in the pool soaking up the sun. We might still go out later on before we leave tomorrow morning. So far though, its been a great last day in the city!

EDIT:
After I posted this, we pretty much vegged out, and despite the fact that it was only 7:30, I could have totally crawled into bed. But we are on VACATION damnit! So we dragged our tired limbs out to the car and decided to drive to the end of Marine St to a park called Lighthouse Park. Something you should know about West Vancouver (or west van as they call it here...) you can only live there if you own at least three yaghts. And like a plane or something. The houses were built into the side of the mountains, some with flippin WATERFALLS running through them! And the road just kept going! We passed the park and decided driving through the mountains was more fun. We followed the road until it ended in a valley that houses the Ferry. At sunset it is breathtaking...

We drove back and this time we stopped at the park, and despite the chill we powered through and hiked our way through the forest paths. The park is one of the last original red wood forests and it was a really cool hike. We saw a hobbit house! And possibly a gateway to another world. Its hard to tell, the door wouldn't open for me...

The light house is still in use today, even though its been there since 1874. The view was beautiful, totally worth the serious hike we had to make to get back to the car. Marni, ever the adventurer, wore sandals.
