Winterlicious!

Last weekend My friends and I participated in Winterlicious as we usually do. This year the planning was actually taken over by lynn, who did a marvelous job of organizing who was coming, travel and picking a restaurant. We ended up at the Toula, a restaurant at the very top of the Westen hotel on the waterfront. Apparently it used to rotate, but it was either not working or frozen when we were there. The menu was perfect for all of our different tastes (Aparnas Butternut squash ravioli was delicious!) More importantly we got to see some friends we don’t get to see very often as well as lauras engagement ring! Can’t wait till Summerlicious!

As a relatively self aware person, I’ve always been aware of how lucky I am to have a mother who has a passion for cooking. Growing up we never had a Chicken Tuesday, or Meatloaf Fridays. Other than Sunday dinners, you could never predict what you would be eating the next night. Although you could assume that it was going to be unique, and delicious! Unfortunately, upon reaching university, and subsequently reaching my own tiny share of a kitchen, I discovered a horrible fact. I didn’t know how to cook ANYTHING. It’s not that I didn’t know how the oven worked, or that I couldn’t read a recipe, but when you’re 18, and living on a student budget, you just don’t go out and spring for a spice rack. Cottage Trip 2015

Every summer, I always try to plan one trip to the cottage with my friends. It doesn't always work out with everyone, but it is looked forward to by all of us every year. This summer, we lucked out and pretty much everyone was able to make it. Now that the cottage is pretty much done and ready for visitors, it was especially exciting because I couldn't wait to see everyone's reactions when they saw the interior. I made sure to make a video of it for mom! After most of us arrived on Friday night, and we were all settled into our rooms, Josh and Michelle started a fire and we all immediatly went into cottage mode. Booze and marshmellows were passed around and we all discovered Josh is a bit of a pyro and we needed to keep the poker stick away from him. Beginnings

Originally, I had planned on starting this blog last weekend, but found myself feeling less than inspired. What on earth would I blog about? And its not like this is my first blog. For the years I lived at university, I updated regularly on livejournal with posts meant for my friends, all of whom lived in separate cities for their own schools. And in the end, where most high school relationships dissolved after starting postsecondary ed, ours continued as if nothing had changed. Whoever said long distance relationships cant last clearly didn’t have LJ and friends as crazy as mine. Eventually most of us graduated or changed schools and once again were within a five minute drive of each other and LJ disappeared from most of our internet bookmarks. After I got my Canon Rebel digital camera, I joined a Photoblog, and posted daily pictures that I had taken, both new and old, digital and film. This blog served a completely different purpose.
